Legal and regulatory issues are a key factor in determining the success of private equity transactions with many UK private equity investors being put off from investing in Europe by cumbersome regulatory regimes, according to the findings of the recent Legal Director Private Equity Benchmarker in association with Taylor Wessing.

An overwhelming majority (89%) of the 100 UK-based private equity investors polled said that legal issues surrounding private equity transactions had an impact on the progress of the deal depending on which location the transaction is taking place in, with more than a quarter (26%) saying that these issues had an “an enormous impact”.
