Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has appointed corporate partner Nils Koffka as global co-head of private equity as the magic circle firm moves to get its highly-rated German buy-out team back on track.
Hamburg-based Koffka, who has been a partner at the firm’s German arm since 1997, was appointed to the role this week. He joins London-based Christopher Bown as joint firm-wide head of private equity. Koffka takes on the key role of bolstering Freshfields’ national practice, which was hit by the departure of former co-head Peter Nussbaum for Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy last month.
