Many law firms are now coming to the conclusion that they need an enterprise portal – effectively an interface that sits on top of all their firm’s key software applications and displays links to all the information a lawyer is likely to need from a single screen. But back in 2001, when Denton Wilde Sapte began looking seriously for a portal platform there was no encouraging trend of other law firms to follow – a few pioneers, certainly, but most law firms were waiting for someone to dive in first.

Dentons’ knowledge management team – professional services development manager Kim Walton, web manager Simon Ekblom and KM partner Helen Cleaveland – began a consultation process with the business in the summer of 2002.
