Denton Wilde Sapte this month committed itself to the most high profile exit from the Asian region yet seen from an international law firm as the top 20 UK practice moves to dramatically boost partner profitability.

As revealed on legalweek.com (8 April), the firm is to shut its offices in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore and Beijing with an estimated 100 staff – including 50 fee earners – facing redundancy. The firm, which attributed the decision to lack of work in the region, hopes to be able to relocate a small number of staff to other offices.
