The Court of Appeal has dealt a major blow to the principle of client confidentiality after upholding a landmark ruling that correspondence between the Bank of England and its adviser Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is not covered by legal privilege.
The ruling, which was handed down on Monday (1 March), relates to the ongoing dispute between the creditors of BCCI and the Bank of England.
