More than half of leading UK law firms have limited their liabilities on individual deals, according to the latest Legal Week/EJ Legal Big Question survey of more than 100 senior lawyers.

The survey, which supports predictions that law firms will increasingly ignore the professional taboo on the issue, found that 14% of respondents have agreed limits on their liability often or all the time, with 39% agreeing such arrangements ‘sometimes’. In contrast, only 47% of respondents said that their firm would ‘never’ agree liability caps with a client.
