The UK’s attractiveness as a place for successful people to live is largely due to the free flow of capital and the ease of communications. The UK is seen not only as an ideal stepping-stone between the US and Eastern Europe, but has also built on its reputation as a financial capital in a climate where investment ‘onshore’ is increasingly seen as preferable to ‘offshore’, thanks to regulatory and compliance pressure in the offshore jurisdictions.

According to a recent report by International Financial Services London (IFSL), there are more corporate headquarters located in London than in any other European city; more than 65% of the Fortune Global 500 companies are represented in London. Overall there are more than 10,000 foreign-owned companies operating in London, more than in any other European city.
