Some swear by them, some swear at them, but there is no denying that legal management consultants have infiltrated almost every level of the law firm market in the UK.
In-house, however, it is a different story. The small band of specialist in-house management consultants looking to serve the legal departments of corporate Britain have encountered considerable levels of resistance. The response of one UK general counsel is typical: “I have never seen the need. What could they do? Help me manage my legal department? That is what I get paid for.”
