There has been plenty of evidence of a decline in business for lawyers in London and many of the UK’s other main legal centres, especially in the fields of banking and big-ticket commercial work. It is an unsettling climate, especially for young lawyers looking at how they can make an impression and a name for themselves, particularly when they see that things are no better at the firm down the road.

Such an atmosphere can easily put people into the mind-set of sitting on their hands and not making waves, hoping that deal flows will pick up to help them drive their careers forward.
