This year has already seen a fair amount of pushing and shoving as the US and UK courts have both sought to establish the boundaries of their jurisdiction.

It started on 14 January, when Brac Rent-a-Car International Inc (Braci), a US company, was put into administration in England. The very next day Regus, an English company, was put into Chapter 11 in the US, with no UK insolvency procedure afoot. Even this, however, was not so much a convincing show of force as consensual. A day later, though, things got serious.
