Online applications defined
There are several ways of contacting employers online: by e-mail to request a brochure or form; by downloading an application form as a pdf (portable document format); or even applying completely online. A survey undertaken by The College of Law in 2002 showed that 24% of the top 100 law firms offered the facility to complete an application form online, while a further 7% allowed the download of a pdf file for return by e-mail. And the number of employers with online application systems is growing.
Here we focus on how to approach the forms that can be completed online by looking at those features that are shared with paper forms and those that are unique to online applications.
