Russell LewinMore than a third of leading UK lawyers believe that a top 50 UK firm will break up in 2003, following the dramatic collapse two weeks ago of Californian giant Brobeck Phleger & Harrison.

The latest Legal Week/EJ Legal Big Question survey, which polled more than 100 top partners on the implications of Brobecks’ collapse, found 33% of respondents predicting a leading UK firm was ‘likely’ to dissolve this year, with an additional 3% claiming such an event was ‘highly likely’.
