The new head of Europe’s umbrella bar organisation is to lobby the European Commission (EC) to create an ‘ethical’ code governing the application of national practice rules for international lawyers.

The move will see the new president of the Council for the Bars and Law Societies of Europe’s (CCBE), Helge Jakob Kolrud, host a meeting of the body’s policy committee in April to consider either amending current EC rules or pushing for the creation of a wholly new directive.
