Allen & OveryThe majority of leading UK lawyers believe the policing of legal conflicts would be better handled by a separate body rather than the Law Society, according to fresh research that confirms claims that City firms are widely bending current conflicts rules to win lucrative instructions.

The latest Legal Week/EJ Legal Big Question survey, which polled more than 100 leading law firm partners on current standards for enforcing conflicts rules, found just 35% of respondents citing the Law Society as the best placed body to devise and police law firm standards.
