There is an ever-increasing pressure on corporate counsel to demonstrate the value they contribute to their employers. However, the nature of their role makes this easier said than done. As one counsel to counsel panel member put it: “Often it is easier to measure a lack of success. When it all goes wrong the lawyers will be blamed and it costs us so many million dollars. On the other hand, when it all goes right, you are the one who does not get invited to the party.”

Demonstrating just how corporate legal services help the bottom line was a key theme of the latest Martindale-Hubbell counsel to counsel forum held in Frankfurt.
