Hammond Suddards Edge has secured a new client after completing its first deal for wine importers, Western Wines.
The firm acted for Western Wines – a major importer of wines from the New World and Italy – on the deal, which gave private equity firm Bridgepoint Capital an 18% stake in the
company.

Hammonds was appointed to do the work after being approached by the client, which previously used one of its national law firm rivals, earlier this year. Legal Week understands that Hammonds will now act as the company’s main legal adviser. In addition to this, the firm has also been appointed as Western Wine’s company secretary.
