While leafing through the International
Bar Association’s conference agenda for 2003 the other day, The Diary couldn’t help but notice that the destinations read like something out of an upmarket Saga Holidays brochure.

Among the exotic locations chosen by those globetrotting bods at the IBA are: Rio de
Janeiro (energy and natural resources law), Sydney (arbitration and ADR), Barcelona (corporate counsel), New York (art and cultural property law), Rome (insolvency and creditors’ rights), Budapest (antitrust and trade law) and Munich (banking and securities).
