Richards Butler has bucked the trend of City firms refusing to act against major banks by agreeing to advise the Co-op’s pension fund over a potential claim against the fund management arm of Merrill Lynch.
The development follows the news that top 10 City firms are turning away instructions from company pension schemes due to a fear by the law firms of acting against their investment banking clients (Legal Week, 14 March).
