The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has levied nearly $1.2 million in fines against a Massachusetts demolition company following an investigation into the death of a worker. JDC Demolition (JDC) was cited for eleven total violations: eight willful violations at $145,027 per violation; two serious violations at $14,502 each; and one “other than serious” violation for $2,072.

Peter Monsini, a newly-hired JDC Demolition (JDC) employee, was using an excavator to help tear down a government parking garage in Boston when part of the garage collapsed; the excavator, with Monsini inside, plummeted 80 feet, killing Monsini. He was 51.
