New Jersey lawmakers have passed legislation that would provide supplemental workers’ compensation benefits to surviving dependents of essential workers’ who died as a result of COVID-19.

Senate Bill 2476 has passed the state’s Assembly. The bill would provide weekly supplemental benefits from New Jersey’s Second Injury Fund to surviving eligible dependents of workers who died after March 1, 2020, due to contracting COVID-19 at work.
