On March 5th, Mike Kreidler, Washington’s Insurance Commissioner, issued an emergency order that requires all health insurance carriers in the state to waive copays and deductibles for consumers who are required to go through coronavirus testing. The order is effective through May 4, and also requires insurers to allow a one-time early refill for prescription drugs, and allows insureds to be treated out of network at no additional cost as long as that provider is within a reasonable distance if there aren’t enough providers in the network to meet the need.
