In an unpublished opinion, an appellate court in California sided with Allstate in a whistleblower lawsuit against a Los Angeles attorney accused of running a sham law practice and conspiring with sham health care providers to defraud auto insurers. The case is People ex rel. Allstate Ins. Co. v. Casado, No. B288742, 2019 Cal. App. Unpub. LEXIS 8572 (Dec. 23, 2019).

Allstate and several other Allstate entities (Allstate) filed a qui tam action against Kelly Casado and the Casado Law Firm (Casado) two other law firms, some chiropractic clinics and other individuals for alleged violations of Insurance Code section 1871.7 and the Business and Professions Code section 17200.
