The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit has affirmed a district court’s decision awarding $2.5 million to two Mexican citizens in the United States on work visas who were severely injured while working on a Louisiana sugarcane farm, concluding that they were not the farm’s employees and, therefore, were not limited to workers’ compensation benefits.
