The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, which sits in Brooklyn, New York, and on Long Island, has over 800 insurance coverage-related cases pending that stem from Superstorm Sandy, which hit the area at the end of October 2012.

In an effort to get a handle on the litigation, the chief judge of the district, Carol Bagley Amon, opened In Re Hurricane Sandy Cases 14mc41. Chief Judge Amon took that action “for the purposes of Pretrial Case Administration in all actions seeking insurance coverage for damage caused by Hurricane Sandy.”
