Research from leading organizations such as Gartner, Altman Weil, Deloitte, Corporate Legal Operations Consortium (CLOC) and Blickstein Group consistently indicates general counsel are under significant pressure to improve efficiencies, establish standardized work processes, measure performance and be accountable to the business. But managing costs, vendors and attorney work is an uphill challenge for many legal departments.
Part of the problem is the complexity of legal operations: CLOC has identified 12 core competencies that every legal department must manage to have a “disciplined, efficient, and effective legal function.” Each of these competencies requires different people, tools and workflows.
