Paulette Brown, a labor and employment law partner and chief diversity officer with the Morristown, N.J., office of Edwards Wildman Palmer, has been nominated to serve as the American Bar Association’s president-elect for 2014-15. She will become the first woman of color and third African-American to serve as ABA president if elected by the ABA House of Delegates at association’s annual meeting, which begin Aug. 7 in Boston.

Throughout 35-plus year career, Brown has held a number of positions, including in-house counsel to a number of Fortune 500 companies and as a municipal court judge. She focuses on all facets of labor and employment and commercial litigation. She has successfully defended employers in cases involving discrimination on the basis of age, sex, marital status, sexual harassment, disability, race and national origin. Brown has received successful results in class-action employment discrimination cases based on race and wage and hour claims. She is also experienced in all aspects of workplace training and collective bargaining.
