Archer Daniels Midland Co. has a new general counsel.

The Decatur, Ill.-based agricultural company announced June 25 that it has appointed Cameron Findlay as senior vice president, GC and secretary. Findlay assumed the role on Monday and replaced Marschall Smith, who left to enter private practice.

For the past four years, Findlay was the SVP, GC and secretary of the medical device company Medtronic Inc. Before that, he was executive vice president and GC at the global insurance, risk management and HR firm Aon Corp.

“Cam is a proven leader with exceptional experience managing global legal, regulatory, compliance and public policy issues,” Patricia Woertz, Archer Daniels Midland’s chairman, CEO and president said in a press release. “He brings to ADM an impressive range of experience in business, government and the law, and I am pleased that he is joining our leadership team.”
