Yahoo! Inc. has officially given Ron Bell the post of general counsel. Since the July departure of longtime GC Mike Callahan , who served in the role for almost 10 years, Bell has been acting as interim general counsel. Before that, he was deputy general counsel for products and the Americas region for 11 years.

Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer said in a press release that she is “excited to appoint him in this critical role at Yahoo,” where he will be responsible for the technology company’s worldwide legal affairs and global compliance program.

“I’m thrilled to be working with Marissa and the entire executive team, to help propel Yahoo to its next stage,” Bell said in a statement. “And I’m honored to lead such a phenomenal legal organization.”
