Q: What are some of your proudest recent achievements?
A: Seven years ago I was the only full-time appellate lawyer at Orrick. Now, at 36 full-time lawyers (including six partners), we are one of the biggest appellate practices in the country. We got there by repeatedly winning some of the biggest cases in the country against the biggest names—and often against all prognostications. I’m proud of those wins. But I’m equally proud, and humbled, to have attracted the brilliant, committed, and creative group of lawyers who drove them. I’m also proud of the number of clients across all industry sectors who turn to us when they just can’t afford to lose an appeal—and then stick with us for case after case.
