The prosecution of Ross Harris, accused of murdering his toddler by leaving him strapped into a car on a hot day, drew international attention to Judge Mary Staley Clark of Cobb County Superior Court.

She had her hands full. When jurors expressed too many preconceived opinions about the case, the judge granted the defendant’s motion for a change of venue. They landed more than 300 miles away in coastal Brunswick, just in time for hurricane season, which led to delays and evacuations.
