ALBANY – A woman who was jailed by New York City for four years on murder charges that were ultimately dropped can press her claims for false imprisonment and malicious prosecution, the state Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday.

The court held unanimously that the facts presented by Maria De Lourdes Torres raise triable issues that may allow her to overcome the presumption that police had probable cause to arrest and charge her with the 2002 stabbing death of Einstein Romeo Acuno in Queens.
