Ericsson, the Swedish networking and telecommunications company, has a brand new legal boss on the line. The Stockholm-based company announced Tuesday that it will welcome Xavier Dedullen as senior vice president, chief legal officer and head of legal affairs and compliance as well as a member of Ericsson’s executive team.

Dedullen, who will take up the post on April 1, has “an extensive international career across several companies and industries,” according to the announcement of his hire.

Dedullen will be replacing Nina Macpherson, current CLO and head of group function legal affairs, who the announcement said is retiring effective March 31.

“I am excited to join Ericsson, a technology company that has a unique position and is a key driver in the global mobile communications industry,” Dedullen said in the announcement. “I look forward to helping transform the business for the future.”

Neither the company nor Dedullen responded to request for comment beyond the statement.

Dedullen moves to Ericsson from his last gig as the group general counsel and chief compliance officer at Swiss manufacturer LafargeHolcim Ltd, where he spent almost five years.

Previously, his LinkedIn profile says, Dedullen held positions at Verizon Communications Inc. where he spent time as GC of legal and regulatory for Asia Pacific and Europe, the Middle East and Africa, before becoming vice president and deputy general counsel of the company’s international operations.

Before Verizon, Dedullen had several other positions, including Carrier1 International general counsel and general counsel for EMEA at PSEG Global, according to LinkedIn. He began his career as an associate at Sullivan & Cromwell.
