Dr. Boxer is a board-certified urologist with 44 years of experience in private and
academic practice. Dr. Boxer is currently practicing medicine. He is a Clinical Professor
of Urology at The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He has been a professor
at the Medical College of Wisconsin, the University of Wisconsin (Madison), and the
University of Miami (Florida). He is an attending urologist at the Los Angeles (UCLA)
Veterans Administration Hospital. He has been awarded a Presidential Citation for
excellence in Urology, Best Doctors nationally twice and 5 times locally (Milwaukee),
and Excellence in Patient Care from the Department of Veterans Affairs. He was a
finalist for Surgeon General of the United States in 1997 and 2001. He represented the
US as a private citizen at the World Health Organization. He has been a guest lecturer
65 times, wrote 14 chapters in books and 73 medical journal articles.
Dr. Boxer is the Associate Editor of the ASCO Post, one of the most read medical journals (oncology) in America. He was appointed by President Clinton in 1995 and President Biden in 2023 to the Board of the National Cancer Institute and the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Diseases.
Dr. Boxer is also a nationally recognized expert in telemedicine. He is an editor of mHealth, the international journal of mobile health, and was the Chief Medical Officer of the nation's largest telemedicine company. Dr Boxer was the Chief Medical Officer of iAnthus Capital which owns licenses in 11 states for cannabis, and an advisor to UpScript Health, a telemedicine and pharmaceutical fulfillment company.
He is also a national expert in health policy, having written policy and been a consultant for the White House, Department of Health and Human Services, Congressional, and State Leaders. He has had many OP-EDs in the Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review, New York Times, Real Clear Policy, and JAMA in the past 5 years.
