The best-selling author of SEO for Dummies (7 editions since 2003), The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the Internet, and dozens of other Internet-technology related books, Peter Kent has been working online since 1984, and in technology since 1979. He was the founder of an e-business service provider funded by one of the world's largest VC firms, and of an Internet-related publishing company (he built his first ecommerce Web site in 1997), VP of Web Solutions for a national ISP, and VP of marketing for a Web-applications company. Since 2003 Mr. Kent has provided consulting services to literally hundreds of companies, large and small, in various areas of digital marketing, including projects for Amazon, Time Warner Cable / Roadrunner, Lonely Planet, Zillow, Avvo, Honey Baked Ham, Dunn & Bradstreet, and Tower Records.

Kent also created three SEO training courses for Learning, (along with a course on selling products through the Marketplace). He also has one of the highest rated SEO courses on, with over 38,000 students, and wrote and presented an 8-hour course on Bitcoin, cryptocurrency, and blockchain. (He’s also the co-author of Bitcoin for Dummies and Cryptocurrency Mining for Dummies.).

Mr. Kent is a very experienced expert witness, assisting in around 150 cases since 1996, writing scores of reports and declarations, in cases with an element related to Internet technology or digital marketing (in particular search engine optimization). Cases include numerous patents (e.g., GeoTag; DDR v., trademarks (Pinterest v. Pintrips, GEICO, Toys R' Us, Google), PPC (, Google), online defamation, cybersquatting, unfair business practices, and more. He has testified in deposition over 50 times and in court and arbitration 13 times.
