Dr. John Fildes is a senior consultant in the practice area of Chemistry for Solution Engineering Group, a multi-disciplinary engineering and technical consulting firm located in the Chicago metro area. He consults on all aspects of chemistry and is an expert in materials science, advanced composite materials, materials processing including process sensor and controls, materials compatibility, materials selection, protective coatings, decorative coatings, coating fabrication, semiconductor materials, gas sensors, tribology (the science of friction and wear), materials property modeling, corrosion, statistics and experimental design.
Dr. Fildes is a uniquely qualified litigation expert witness whose extensive scientific experience in product and process design, research & development and innovation management, provides comprehensive insight of both the technical issues and their relation to R&D and design applications. He combines those experiences with career long specialization on the role that materials play in the limitations and failures of products and systems.
Dr. Fildes has extremely strong problem-solving and analytical skills, excellent communications abilities and decades of experience in successfully conveying, with credibility and confidence, highly technical issues to laypeople. He successfully tackles highly challenging technical problems and often sees key issues and devises approaches, which others have missed, through a combination of vast experience, extensive technical knowledge, creativity, an excellent understanding of testing and analysis and strong project planning and management capabilities. He has formal training in Chemistry, Physics, Thermodynamics and Material Science.
