The District of Delaware departed from a national trend with a dip in securities filings in 2021, though the district’s judges continue to hold the heaviest securities dockets in the country.

According to a report from Lex Machina released Thursday, while the District of Delaware saw the second most securities filings of any district in 2021, those filings stand out among the top five venues for securities filings in that while filings have increased in other districts—especially in the Southern District of New York, which jumped to 969 filings in 2021 from 560 in 2020—it’s the only district that’s seen a decrease in filings, dropping from 360 in 2019 to 293 in 2020 and 279 in 2021.
