Two Richards, Layton & Finger attorneys are set to speak at the National LGBT Bar Association’s Lavender Law conference.

Mark Purpura and Melanie George Smith are scheduled to present “Attorneys as Advocates: How Attorneys Can Assist in Legislative Campaigns on LGBT Issues” from 3:45 to 5:15 p.m. Aug. 22 in New York City.

They will act as panelists to discuss the roles lawyers can play to lead or assist legislative campaigns for LGBT rights, using Delaware as a case study and an example, according to a release.

Purpura, a director at Richards Layton, focuses on complex transactional matters as well as banking and corporate and personal trust matters.

He has experience counseling clients on a broad range of legal issues for Delaware limited liability companies, limited partnerships, general partnerships, and statutory and common-law trusts.

Smith, an associate, focuses her practice on banking and commercial transactions. She is also certified as a mediator by the Delaware Superior Court.
