Delaware Supreme Court Justice Randy J. Holland was selected to receive the Lewis F. Powell Jr. Award for Professionalism and Ethics by the American Inns of Court.
The award is scheduled to be presented at the 2014 American Inns of Court Celebration of Excellence at the U.S. Supreme Court in October.
The event will be hosted by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
The award is given each year to a lawyer or judge who has rendered exemplary service in the areas of legal excellence, professionalism and ethics, according to a release.
Holland, the youngest person ever appointed to the Delaware Supreme Court, is serving his third term as a justice, a release said.
Holland is the past national president of the American Inns of Court and a founding member of the Terry-Carey American Inn of Court, which gives a professionalism award in his name.
