The Judicial Nominating Commission has submitted five names to Gov. Jack Markell for selection as his candidate to replace retiring Superior Court Judge Charles H. Toliver IV, according to sources familiar with the process.
The names are said to be Diane M. Coffey, former New Castle County chief prosecutor; Morris Hardwick Schneider managing attorney Lisa Hatfield; Jennifer-Kate Aaronson, head of the Office of Disciplinary Counsel; Ferris Wharton, public defender and former attorney general candidate; and Saul Ewing partner Richard Forsten.
Forsten and Wharton are said to be the favorites for the position, according to sources following the nomination process.
Markell is said to have scheduled interviews with the five candidates Wednesday and Thursday.
