A Pennsylvania district court imposed sanctions on a Philadelphia law practice after an attorney at the firm missed multiple deadlines in court and it was discovered she was practicing law for six months before being barred in the state.

U.S. District Judge Karen S. Marston of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania determined that the Nurick Law Group should pay $500 to the court’s general fund and to disgorge the attorney’s fees as a sanction following a “pattern of inappropriate conduct” by plaintiff’s counsel in the case. Marston’s opinion, which was published Monday in the case, DelPalazzo v. Horizon Group Holding, took specific issue with attorney Catherine Damavandi’s conduct during the proceedings.
