On Sept. 13 the Delaware State Bar Association is set to host a movie night CLE program and presentation of the HBO film “Confirmation.”

Program highlights include: welcome and introduction to screening, a screening of “Confirmation” starring Kerry Washington, Wendell Pierce and Greg Kinnear and a discussion of the CLE’s topic “Understanding Duties and Rights Regarding Sexual Harassment: Discussion of Film and Issues Presented.”

Scheduled panelists include Mary I. Akhimien, Connolly Gallagher; Lori A. Brewington, Richards, Layton & Finger; Helen Grant, Office of Anti-Discrimination, Department of Labor, Delaware; Claire M. DeMatteis, former senior counsel for then-Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr.

“Confirmation” is based on Clarence Thomas’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court being called into question when Anita Hill, a former colleague, testifies that he sexually harassed her. In the wake of the sexual abuse scandals coming out of Hollywood, the political arena, the media, the literary world and the hospitality industry, this movie cannot be more timely, said the DSBA in a press release about the event. Social media is abuzz with #MeToo and unwanted sexual conduct can lead to legal ramifications.
