The Georgia Supreme Court has declined to halt voting on whether a new city of Eagle’s Landing should be created that will slice off a sizable chunk of the current city of Stockbridge.

The ruling, which comes as early voting starts, did not address the merits of a case the justices heard last week, where lawyers for Stockbridge challenged the constitutionality of two legislative acts allowing the residents of the proposed city to vote for the creation and incorporation of Eagle’s Landing, effective Jan. 1.
