Shawn LaGrua was a prosecutor in the Atlanta, Stone Mountain and Tallapoosa judicial circuits, and inspector general for the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office before Gov. Nathan Deal appointed her to the Fulton County Superior Court in 2010.
But she may be best known for creating and supervising My Journey Matters, an alternative sentencing program named by its participants. It’s an accountability court like others that have spread across the state since Deal took office in 2010 and launched the Criminal Justice Reform Commission.
