A nonprofit that stages mock trials around the country is looking for lawyers and law students to act as judges and evaluating jurors for 300 high school students at Clayton County Superior Court.

The 2017 Empire Atlanta Mock Trial series will host students from 13 states arguing complex mock cases, including local students from Jonesboro High School and DeKalb Early College Academy.

Volunteers will judge one or more two- to three-hour trials from Sept. 23-25. Each trial includes a 30-minute orientation. There are 9:30 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. sessions on Saturday and Sunday, and an 8 a.m. session Monday. Food will be served.

For more information and registration, visit the Empire Mock Trial website, www.empiremocktrial.org, or call 917-426-3682.

The Clayton County Superior Court is located at the Harold R. Banke Justice Center, 9151 Tara Blvd., Jonesboro, Georgia 30236.
