A former Fulton County sheriff’s deputy who was fired after city police raided a bachelor party and jailed him for violating Atlanta’s business license ordinances has filed a federal suit accusing city police and business inspectors of routinely overstepping their authority to conduct illegal searches and seizures.

Devon Brown was a 19-year veteran of the sheriff’s department when members of the city’s License and Permit Unit conducted a three-hour raid of what he said was his private club, the Dirty South Slab Riders, in February 2014. The club was located in space Brown had rented in a strip mall in south Atlanta, the suit said.
