A Clayton County firm that services railroad yards across the country has paid $2.58 million to a Kansas rail yard worker who sued after he suffered a traumatic brain injury caused by a makeshift cannon fired by fellow employees.

Railserve Inc. paid the judgment this month after a Clayton County jury held it liable for injuries sustained by plaintiff Colby Hines, 28. The case was tried over four days in November after the Georgia Court of Appeals last March reversed a decision by Clayton County State Court Judge John Carbo III to grant Railserve’s motion for summary judgment.
