A car crash into a jackknifed tractor-trailer at the highway interchange known in Atlanta as “Spaghetti Junction” has led to a $950,000 settlement from a trucker’s insurance company to a Georgia man who suffered a back injury, according to lawyers on both sides.

The payment was $800,000 more than the $150,000 in medical bills claimed by the plaintiff because the trucker’s insurer faced possible bad-faith claims from missing time-limited demands to respond to settlement offers, the plaintiff’s lawyers said.
