Muslims and atheists took separate cases Wednesday to the Eleventh U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, both alleging improper government conduct that violates their First Amendment rights to religious freedom.

Muslims in Alpharetta claim the city is using zoning laws unfairly to keep their worship center small, thus cramping their right to practice their faith. Atheists in Lakeland, Fla., claim the city forces Christianity on citizens during invocations before city council meetings.
