Tara A. Plimpton is the general counsel of GE Energy Management, which was formed this year when General Electric reorganized its energy business into three stand-alone companies. Atlanta-based GE Energy Management develops technology for electrical power customers and is expected to generate $7 billion in revenue in 2012.

Plimpton attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and the University of Nevada,Reno, where she received her bachelor’s degree in international affairs. She earned her law degree from Georgetown Law Center and served as a judicial clerk for the Nevada Supreme Court. She was later the managing partner at Brooke, Shaw, Plimpton & Zumpft in Nevada. She joined GE in 2002 in Nevada and served as general counsel within GE Energy as well as Pennsylvania-based GE Transportation.
