Gov. Brian Kemp has handpicked a pair of solicitor generals and a judge to fill a trio of judicial vacancies at the state and superior court levels.

Now Gwinnett County Assistant Solicitor General Vasco "Terry" McRae, Houston County State Court Solicitor General Amy E. Smith and Worth County State Court Judge Ralph W. Powell are preparing to transition into judgeships on the Rockdale County State Court, Houston Judicial Circuit Superior Court and Tifton Judicial Circuit Superior Court benches, respectively.

Just shy of four moths after the Judicial Nominating Commission of Georgia shortlisted a solicitor general and trial lawyer to become the next Houston Judicial Circuit superior court judge, Kemp announced his selection of Smith Friday.
